About the position

The Payroll Specialist at Heyl, Royster, Voelker & Allen, P.C. is responsible for managing payroll functions within a high-volume, multisite environment. This role involves ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with payroll tax regulations, and effective communication with employees regarding payroll and benefits. The position is integral to the firm's accounting department and requires strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform payroll processing for biweekly, quarterly, and annual payrolls.
  • Ensure payroll tax compliance and manage automated timekeeping systems.
  • Generate payroll reports and ensure accurate and timely payments to employees.
  • Manage onboarding paperwork and processes in the HRIS system for new hires and changes.
  • Oversee maintenance of employee benefit files and ensure accurate entries in the HRIS system.
  • Track monthly insurance and communicate with employees regarding payroll and benefit issues.
  • Support the Finance Director and Human Resources Director with various duties.
  • Organize and update electronic personnel files.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or higher preferred.
  • Two to four years of progressive directly related experience.
  • Excellent skills with Windows-based software and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to calculate numbers and manage multiple tasks effectively.
