About the position

As a Payroll Specialist at JNR Adjustment Company, Inc., you will play a crucial role in managing the payroll process for a workforce of 300-400 employees. Your primary responsibilities will include reviewing weekly time records to ensure completeness and accuracy, addressing escalated payroll-related inquiries, and correcting paycheck errors in collaboration with managers and HR. You will be responsible for running reports during the semimonthly payroll process to identify potential errors and resolving employee questions regarding their pay. Additionally, you will lead the processing of weekly payroll, ensuring compliance with state laws when processing final pays, and managing wage levies and child support obligations in a timely manner. Your role will also involve maintaining a high-level knowledge of our payroll system, preparing reports for relevant departments concerning payroll, company budgets, and expenses, as well as creating ad-hoc reports as needed. You will assist the HR Generalist with onboarding new hires and work closely with HR to complete aligned tasks as they arise. The position requires a collaborative approach, as you will need to communicate effectively via phone and email to achieve shared goals. You should be comfortable taking on tasks independently, drawing on your prior experience in payroll, HR, and occasionally accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Review weekly time records for completeness and accuracy
  • Answer escalated payroll related questions and/or correct paycheck errors and adjustments
  • Run reports during the semimonthly payroll process to find any potential errors
  • Address and resolve employee questions about their pay
  • Lead the processing of weekly payroll for 300-400 employees
  • Process final pays in accordance with state laws
  • Export, prepare, and load HSA and 401k files weekly
  • Manage wage levies, child support, and other wage-related compliance efforts
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the payroll system
  • Prepare reports for relevant departments about payroll, company budget, and expenses
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports as necessary
  • Assist HR Generalist with onboarding new hire employees
  • Work closely with HR to complete aligned tasks as they arise

Requirements

  • Collaborative phone and email skills to reach shared goals
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Experience with various payroll-related software and time reporting applications
  • Ability to adapt to changing processes and software
  • Bachelor's degree or formal post-high school education and/or certificate in accounting or related field (preferred)
  • 1-3 years of related or payroll experience
  • Detail-oriented and deadline/goal-driven
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment
  • ADP experience required
