About the position

The Payroll Specialist at Northeast Technology Center is responsible for processing and managing payroll for the organization. This role involves gathering employee work hours, calculating payroll amounts including overtime and deductions, and maintaining payroll records. The position supports fiscal accountability to ensure efficient use of public funds in alignment with the district's mission.

Responsibilities

• Process and manage payroll for Northeast Tech.
• Gather information on hours worked for employees and calculate payroll amounts, including overtime and deductions.
• Maintain all records and reports associated with payroll and accounts payable systems.
• Assist and support the district in fiscal accountability to ensure legal and efficient use of public funds.

Requirements

• An earned bachelor's degree with a major in Business preferred or a combination of education and five years of current work experience in payroll or accounting.
• Ability to prepare plans, reports, and budgets.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and other computer applications.
• Proficiency in record keeping, prioritizing, and scheduling.
• Ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment, and discretion in the performance of duties.
• Knowledge of confidentiality importance.
• Proficient in computer usage skills required for tracking financial information using ADPC software and/or other databases and spreadsheets.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in payroll or accounting systems.
• Familiarity with presentation software and internet research skills.
