About the position

We are in search of a Payroll Specialist to join a rapidly growing client in the Kansas City, MO area. Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation and processing of biweekly payroll for a significant number of employees, ensuring accuracy at all times.
  • Prepare and process quarterly commission payrolls and various bonuses, while also tracking commission payments and reporting to relevant stakeholders.
  • Act as the liaison between payroll, HR, and Accounting to guarantee the seamless flow of payroll data and financial information.
  • Manage garnishments and other special payroll adjustments as required.
  • Ensure the company's compliance with state laws regarding employee registrations and manage state unemployment rates.
  • Oversee the maintenance of employee 401(k) loan balances and adjustments for final loan payoff.
  • Prepare necessary workpapers for annual external audits and manage processes related to 401(k) and Flex Spending with vendors and the accounting department.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely calculation and filing of taxes with all government agencies.
  • Use the UKG system to manage any system issues or changes required.
  • Balance benefit invoices, generate department allocations, and submit to A/P for payment.
  • Respond to and resolve employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and tax issues.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role within the professional services industry.
  • Proficient in payroll processing systems, specifically UKG.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in processing multistate payroll.
  • Demonstrable experience with processing biweekly payroll.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.
