About the position

DATTCO Inc. is seeking a full-time Payroll Specialist to join our Coach and Tour Group in New Britain, Connecticut. Our Coach and Tour Group operates 200 vehicles and logs over 6 million miles annually, providing a vital service to our community and beyond. As a Payroll Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our employees, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our operations. In this position, you will be responsible for compiling and processing payroll information, maintaining accurate records, and verifying the accuracy of data entered into the payroll system. You will work closely with the Motor Coach Controller to resolve payroll-related issues, set up new drivers, and assist with system maintenance. Your role will also involve responding to inquiries regarding payroll problems and enforcing company policies. Additionally, you will assist in the Accounts Receivable process, ensuring that payments are accurately applied and contacting customers who are past due. You will also support month-end procedures and the budget process, contributing to various quarterly reports and functions. Responsibilities

  • Compile and process information for payroll production
  • Maintain accurate records and workflow related to payroll
  • Verify the accuracy of data entered in the payroll system and work with supervisor to reconcile payroll related issues
  • Respond to inquiries to resolve payroll problems and enforce company policy
  • Stay current with system updates and changes
  • Coordinate all aspects of payroll balancing including researching and resolving discrepancies
  • Work with Motor Coach Controller on a day-to-day basis to resolve issues, set up new drivers, and any other system maintenance
  • Assist in payroll issues as they arise
  • Work with Accounts Payable and Receivable team to ensure money is being accurately applied in the system
  • Assist in Accounts Receivable process in Motor Coach Division
  • Contact customers who are past due
  • Assist in month end procedures by working with the Motor Coach Controller
  • Assist in the budget process with the Motor Coach team
  • Assist in other quarterly reports and functions

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting
  • Some college preferred
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and prioritization abilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with Excel (including pivot tables), Word and Outlook applications
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Confidentiality and trustworthiness
  • Ability to adjust hours and work overtime as the business needs
