About the position

As a Payroll Specialist II at Canteen, you will play a crucial role in supporting payroll applications by providing exceptional customer service through incoming calls and emails. Your responsibilities will include identifying process inefficiencies, suggesting resolutions, and implementing improvements to enhance payroll operations. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring compliance with service level agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming calls according to established procedures and performance standards.
  • Create work orders and capture structured data for each issue.
  • Understand questions/issues presented and suggest resolutions to issues.
  • Identify inefficiencies in existing processes and provide documentation and testing for process changes.
  • Provide training for the team on new processes and improvements.
  • Process and respond to emails according to service level agreements.
  • Process off-cycle checks according to service level agreements.
  • Complete necessary corrections listed on internal data audits.
  • Provide customer service leadership on projects involving multiple teams within the department.
  • Recognize issues or trending work orders and raise questions about their impact on others or other applications while providing troubleshooting and resolution suggestions.
  • Assist with Human Resources onboarding/offboarding tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish required.
  • Previous payroll operations or customer service experience, or 2 years of previous customer service call center experience.
  • Experience working with clients in a fast-paced, complex, deadline-oriented service environment.
  • Payroll processing knowledge and SAP experience preferred.
  • Union payroll experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Time management expertise and organizational skills.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort with multiple computer platforms.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Research and analysis skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with payroll processing in a union environment.
  • Knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA).
