About the position

The Payroll Specialist role at Spherion is a focused position dedicated to processing payroll for approximately 1,100 employees across the U.S. This position involves managing payroll operations, including handling taxes, garnishments, and generating payroll reports, while ensuring accurate and timely payments. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and possess a passion for payroll management.

Responsibilities

• Processing payroll for employees across multiple states, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Managing garnishments, status changes, and auditing time records to resolve discrepancies.
• Building professional Excel reports and responding to employee payroll inquiries.
• Filing required payroll documents, such as W-2s, while adhering to confidentiality and retention policies.
• Staying current with payroll policies, regulations, and compliance requirements.

Requirements

• Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of three years of payroll processing experience for a multi-state employer.
• Proficiency with computerized payroll systems and HRIS platforms; Paylocity experience a plus.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local pay and taxation regulations.

Nice-to-haves

• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus.
