About the position

Robert Half is seeking a Payroll Specialist with extensive experience in ADP to manage and execute payroll operations for a dynamic entertainment company in Culver City, CA. The role focuses on ensuring timely and accurate processing of employee wages, benefits, and deductions while leveraging ADP systems to streamline payroll processes and ensure compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle payroll for employees, including data entry, time and attendance tracking, and reviewing wage calculations using ADP Workforce Now or other ADP platforms.
  • Ensure payroll is processed in compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and company policies.
  • Administer employee benefits, handle deductions (taxes, garnishments, 401(k), etc.), and ensure accuracy and proper reporting.
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, promotions, and salary changes.
  • Serve as the go-to person for ADP system inquiries, troubleshooting, and optimization for payroll-related processes.
  • Generate and distribute payroll reports, including wage summaries, tax reports, and audit documentation, as needed.
  • Reconcile payroll data to ensure accuracy and address any discrepancies.
  • Assist with year-end reporting tasks, including W-2 preparation and distribution, tax filings, and compliance reviews.
  • Work closely with HR, Finance, and other departments to ensure payroll aligns with organizational objectives and to resolve any issues related to payroll and employee compensation.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of payroll experience, with strong proficiency in ADP (Workforce Now or similar) required.
  • In-depth understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and wage and hour compliance.
  • Advanced skills in ADP software, Excel, and other payroll-related systems.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle confidential information discreetly and accurately.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a customer-service focus when interacting with employees and management.
  • Ability to identify and resolve payroll issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in the entertainment sector or familiarity with industry-specific payroll complexities.
  • Payroll certification (CPP or FPC) is a plus but not required.
