About the position

The Goodman Group is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join their collaborative and service-oriented team. This full-time position is based in Chaska, MN, and is integral to managing the payroll process for various companies under The Goodman Group umbrella. The Payroll Specialist will ensure that payroll is processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with all relevant regulations. This role serves as a point of contact for employees, providing solutions and support related to payroll and human resources, particularly in relation to the ADP system. In this role, the Payroll Specialist will monitor and respond to Help Desk inquiries, manage payroll processing functions, and ensure compliance with federal and state payroll regulations. The position requires a detail-oriented individual who can handle payroll discrepancies, implement processing efficiencies, and maintain confidentiality. Responsibilities

  • Manage the payroll process for The Goodman Group companies, ensuring timely, compliant, and accurate payroll processing.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding payroll inquiries and provide human resources support related to the ADP system.
  • Monitor and respond to Help Desk emails and calls, delegating and tracking the status of tickets.
  • Process assigned payrolls confidentially and accurately, taking ownership of payroll responsibilities.
  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
  • Process new hires from the HR Applicant Tracking System and ensure compliance with garnishment calculations.
  • Handle employee questions and concerns regarding payroll discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Assist in implementing payroll processing efficiencies and act as a technical payroll resource to others.
  • Administer the electronic timekeeping system and ensure adherence to FLSA regulations.
  • Prepare periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions upon request.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent education.
  • 3+ years of full payroll processing experience, preferably with ADP WFN and NewGen.
  • Knowledge of federal and state tax jurisdiction rules affecting payroll preparation.
  • Experience with processing multi-state payrolls and handling payroll for 1000+ employees.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong project and time management skills, especially under critical deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently with minimal supervision.
