About the position

The Payroll Specialist will apply their knowledge of payroll functions, including processing, reporting, systems, wage and hour laws, time and attendance, garnishment processes, and operational best practices in accordance with established procedures. This role requires working under a moderate degree of supervision to perform timely and accurate daily activities and processing of employee payrolls for employees on monthly, semi-monthly, bi-weekly, and weekly cycles. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for administering the end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring compliance with tax regulations across multiple states, and maintaining accurate payroll records. In this position, the Payroll Specialist will compile, input, audit, and verify any additional data to be included in the final payroll prior to processing of W-2s and will also process W-2 corrections as appropriate. They will assist with tax account setup and amendments and help resolve payroll tax issues. The role involves answering a high volume of questions relating to salary, paychecks, and other payroll information while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. The Payroll Specialist will work closely with payroll coordinators at field locations to problem-solve and achieve resolutions regarding payroll issues, ensuring that field payroll coordinators are properly trained to perform all aspects of their payroll duties. Collaboration with human resources representatives is essential to address inquiries, issues, and procedures affecting payroll. Additionally, the Payroll Specialist will assist in testing all payroll-related system enhancements, improvements, integrations, or conversions, and will generate and distribute various payroll reports as needed. The role also includes completing monthly, quarterly, and year-end tasks accurately and timely, supporting merger and acquisition activities as required, and creating and maintaining a procedure manual for all job duties. This position is critical in ensuring compliance with record-keeping requirements and following internal controls to prevent fraud or errors in payroll processing.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the end-to-end payroll operations, including data entry, payroll processing, tax compliance across multiple states, timekeeping activities, auditing, and reporting to ensure timely and accurate payroll.

  • Collaborate with project managers and team members to assist in various projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
  • Create and maintain procedure manual for all job duties.

Requirements
