About the position

Cigar Box Studios Inc is looking for a detail-oriented and highly organized Payroll Specialist to join our office team in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in payroll management, general ledger accounting, and benefits administration. This role is crucial for ensuring that payroll is processed accurately and in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll for all employees, maintaining accurate records, and managing employee benefits. In this position, you will be tasked with processing payroll, which includes the accurate calculation of wages, deductions, and benefits for all employees. You will also maintain up-to-date records of payroll transactions, including general ledger entries, and manage and reconcile payroll accounts. Additionally, you will administer employee benefits, such as health insurance and retirement plans, and utilize HRIS systems like Paychex Flex to manage employee data and benefits. The role requires performing journal entries and double-entry bookkeeping to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. You will also be responsible for processing and maintaining accurate records of payroll-related documents, including tax forms and W-2s. Collaboration with other accounting and HR departments is essential to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. The ability to perform 10-key typing and utilize computer software for processing payroll transactions is also necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for all employees, including accurate calculation of wages, deductions, and benefits

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in payroll management and general ledger accounting
  • Experience with Paychex Flex
  • Strong knowledge of payroll and benefits administration, including tax laws and regulations
  • Proficiency in computer software, including accounting software and spreadsheet applications
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and financial reporting
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field preferred
  • Certification in payroll management, such as the Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification, is highly valued.
