About the position

Advanced Personnel Resources, Inc. is seeking a Payroll Specialist with over 5 years of payroll experience to join our team in Greensboro, NC. This role is crucial in assisting and backing up the Senior Payroll Analyst in the weekly payroll process, ensuring compliance with State and Federal laws as well as our clients' internal standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong proficiency in payroll within a corporate environment and will be responsible for identifying inconsistencies, improvement opportunities, and ensuring quality assurance throughout the payroll process. Knowledge of SAP is highly preferred for this position. The Payroll Specialist will work Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, with a pay range of $23.00 to $25.00 per hour, depending on experience. This full-time position requires proactive communication with managers to ensure timely receipt of all necessary information for payroll processing. The successful candidate will generate reports, review payroll data for accuracy, and coordinate necessary corrections with the responsible departments. Compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and practices is essential, as is the ability to research, analyze, and resolve outstanding payroll issues by collecting and analyzing information and identifying trends. Additional payroll-related functions may be assigned by management as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively communicate with managers to ensure the receipt of all information required for payroll processing promptly.
  • Generate reports, review for accuracy of payroll data, and coordinate necessary corrections with responsible departments.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour laws and practices.
  • Research, analyze and resolve outstanding payroll issues by collecting and analyzing information and identifying trends.
  • Perform any other payroll-related functions as directed by management.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of payroll experience processing multi-state payroll in a Payroll Specialist role or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience with Payroll applications such as SAP, DMS/TAMS.
  • Must have prior experience in roles requiring strong problem solving/analytical skills, prioritization and excellent service delivery.
  • College degree preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication and attention to detail are necessary for the role.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.

Nice-to-haves
