About the position

The Payroll Specialist at The GEO Group, Inc. is responsible for processing payroll, addressing payroll inquiries, resolving employee pay issues, and providing management labor information for the assigned region. This role serves as the first point of contact for regional offices and facilities, ensuring prompt and professional resolution of payroll-related inquiries while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in payroll processing.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll according to scheduled cycles.
  • Respond to payroll inquiries and resolve employee pay issues/discrepancies.
  • Provide management labor information for the assigned region.
  • Serve as the first line of contact for regional offices and facilities regarding payroll inquiries.
  • Communicate via email and answer department phone lines.
  • Coordinate with facilities on processing items that need clarification until resolved.
  • Utilize assistance from the Payroll Supervisor for complicated processing or tax issues.
  • Assist in the resolution of garnishments, tax levies, and child support notices.
  • Enter, analyze, and confirm pay adjustments.
  • Review and balance payroll prior to final transmission.
  • Prepare requested pay period, monthly, or quarterly check requests.
  • Run and distribute checks according to facility specifications.
  • File all payroll processing documentation in appropriate employee files or payroll folders.
  • Assist in various projects assigned by the Payroll Supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED certificate.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of experience processing multi-state payroll.
  • Highly analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Above average ability to work with computers and necessary software (Excel, Word, Infinium, Kronos, and query/report writing software).
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to retain confidentiality of all transactions.
