As a Payroll Specialist at McKesson, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of payroll processing. This position requires an experienced and fully competent individual who is well-versed in payroll processing best practices. Your responsibilities will include timecard entry and validation, processing and validating payroll in the designated system, and maintaining a thorough understanding of earnings and deductions, both pretax and taxable. You will also need to be knowledgeable about payroll taxes at the federal, state, and local levels, as well as maintaining and updating employee data. Responding to employee inquiries accurately and in a timely manner will be a key part of your role, as will assisting other departments and agencies with payroll-related questions and requests, including the completion of wage verification forms. Your goal will be to ensure payroll accuracy and employee satisfaction across our weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly payrolls, all while completing assignments with minimal supervision. In this role, you will be expected to work independently or with minimal supervision in the area of payroll validation. This includes handling complex payroll-related discrepancies and inquiries, such as On Demand check creation and validation, pay and W2 reconciliation, garnishment processing, and termination pay rules. You will be responsible for achieving results and meeting deadlines with little to no direction, utilizing established procedures and instructions. Your professional judgment will be essential in analyzing data and ensuring timely and accurate completion of assigned tasks. Additionally, you will be tasked with updating and creating Desk Top Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for your assigned tasks as needed. Overall, this position is integral to the payroll department, requiring a strong attention to detail, the ability to handle sensitive and confidential material, and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines. You will also be expected to adapt positively to changes in processes and working conditions, and to identify and communicate process improvements effectively.
