About the position

We are offering a short-term contract employment opportunity for a Payroll Specialist in Sacramento, California. This position is centered around the construction industry, focusing on the processing and submission of payroll, managing company records, and ensuring compliance with various regulations.

Responsibilities

• Accurately review and process weekly payroll, including checks and direct deposit stubs
• Maintain comprehensive and current payroll records for all employees
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as union agreements, by reviewing all union certified payroll reports
• Utilize accounting software for efficient management of payroll, ensuring prompt and correct pay for employees, and producing associated payroll reports
• Prepare and submit weekly 'Certified Payroll Report' and DIR electronic reporting
• Enter certified payrolls and non-performance payrolls weekly on various Labor and Compliance reporting platforms
• Keep abreast of all relevant union agreements to ensure the company meets all payroll requirements
• Process and submit union dues payments
• Assist in internal and external audits related to payroll, wages, and compliance as needed
• Manage, report, and remit other payroll deductions including employee insurance premiums, 401(k) contributions, employee loans, and other deductions
• Maintain a log of all garnishments/tax levies and remit all payments to respective agencies in accordance with each garnishment order.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems
• Experience with ADP - Financial Services
• Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now
• Skilled in using Ceridian
• Knowledge of Dayforce software
• Competency in 401k - RRSP Administration
• Experience with About Time software
• Ability to perform Accounting Functions
• Auditing skills
• Familiarity with Benefit Functions
