About the position

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for administering all systems, processes, and functions related to payroll. This role involves performing all tasks necessary to accomplish payroll processing objectives, which includes facilitating relationships with external vendors, auditors, and state and federal agencies. The Payroll Specialist will drive continuous improvement processes within assigned areas of responsibility and will be responsible for administering all functional related activities within the scope of the payroll system. Key responsibilities include managing all activities necessary to process multi-state and multi-schedule payroll in accordance with pay schedules. This involves maintaining and updating employee records, processing involuntary deductions such as garnishments, preparing accounting transactions and documents, and documenting and updating procedures. The Payroll Specialist will also ensure compliance with all tax processing, statutory reporting, and filing requirements, working closely with Finance partners to ensure accurate and timely general ledger configuration and reporting. The role requires ensuring the highest level of payroll processing and administrative accuracy, data security, and integrity across all platforms. The Payroll Specialist will ensure compliance with JSOX by adhering to, evaluating, recommending, and establishing internal controls requirements, maintaining documentation for payroll processes, and providing recommendations as appropriate. Additionally, the specialist will support initiatives to improve the efficiency of payroll administration, coordinating interfacing and reporting of data to and from third-party vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Administer all systems, processes, and functions related to payroll.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant payroll experience.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred.
  • Experience with UKG payroll system preferred.
  • 5 years of experience with Microsoft Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with payroll processing in a manufacturing setting.
