About the position

The Payroll Specialist at Blanchard Machinery Company will work under the direct supervision of the Payroll Manager, providing essential support in payroll operations. This role involves processing and reviewing bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls, ensuring accuracy in payroll and related tax filings, and maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for administering all company benefits plans and employee programs, maintaining and reviewing employee information in ADP and DBS systems, and ensuring the accuracy of payroll data. You will collaborate with other departments to provide necessary data for various reporting and will be tasked with balancing payroll and benefits accounts at month-end. This position requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently to meet deadlines while maintaining confidentiality. The physical work environment is primarily indoors, and the job may require standing, lifting, and using computers and other technology to complete responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to a positive work environment and promotes the vision, mission, and values of BMC.
  • Completes all job responsibilities in a safe manner, promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Ensures the accuracy of payroll and related payroll tax filing as well as payroll general ledger interface.
  • Administers all company benefits plans and employee programs to comply with all federal and state regulations.
  • Maintains and reviews employee information in ADP and DBS systems.
  • Reviews ADP and DBS input and payroll reports bi-weekly to ascertain correct posting of hours worked and adjusts payroll as necessary.
  • Collaborates with other departments to provide data for various reporting.
  • Balances all payroll and benefits accounts at month end.
  • Reconciles the payroll clearing general ledger account monthly.
  • Transmits bi-weekly payroll data to ADP Service Center and reviews resulting documentation such as the payroll register, the GL interface, and payroll tax reporting.
  • Verifies Employment requests and enters Tax levy notices (state and federal).
  • Assists with Status Change Form data entry and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or Certificate with 5+ years of experience required.
  • Experience with ADP payroll systems, with proficiency in payroll processing, tax regulations, and compliance required.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel.
  • Analytical with a strong attention to detail.
  • Understanding of SC State Payroll laws.
  • Self-driven to meet deadlines and accomplish tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
