About the position

Mission Yogurt, Inc. is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our team, responsible for ensuring that all payroll processes are executed accurately and promptly. This role serves as the subject matter expert and escalation point for resolving payroll-related issues while continuously seeking improvements in operational processes. The Payroll Specialist will design and implement initiatives to enhance payroll operations, working closely with management teams and executive leadership to define standards and reusable approaches for payroll operations. This position reports directly to the Team Member Services Manager. The Payroll Specialist will be tasked with processing bi-weekly payrolls accurately and on time, inputting and verifying non-exempt personnel time sheets for compliance, and reviewing computed wages to ensure accuracy. Maintaining accurate payroll records, new hire documents, and employee files is essential, as is managing garnishments, deductions, vacation/sick accruals, and bonuses. The role also involves coordinating bi-weekly payroll check delivery, reconciling raise review processes, and ensuring pay rate change accuracy. Responding to employee and management inquiries regarding payroll, processing manual checks as requested, and collaborating closely with HR and Accounting on payroll issues are key responsibilities. In addition, the Payroll Specialist will maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee information, audit master files and pay data entries, reconcile payroll bank statements, and verify payroll deductions. Developing procedures for payroll-related special projects, coaching restaurant management teams on payroll procedures, engaging in payroll-related vendor negotiations, and providing recommendations on payroll-related decisions are also part of the role. The successful candidate will identify and implement process improvement measures to optimize payroll operations.

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payrolls accurately and on time.
  • Input and verify non-exempt personnel time sheets for compliance.
  • Review and correct computed wages to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, new hire documents, and employee files.
  • Manage garnishments, deductions, vacation/sick accruals, and bonuses.
  • Coordinate bi-weekly payroll check delivery.
  • Reconcile raise review processes and ensure pay rate change accuracy.
  • Respond to employee and management inquiries regarding payroll.

  • Reconcile payroll bank statements and verify payroll deductions.

  • Provide recommendations on payroll-related decisions.
  • Communicate and coordinate daily payroll operations with Team Member Services Manager.
  • Identify and implement process improvement measures.

Requirements

  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in payroll processing.
  • Experience with ADP WFN preferred.
  • Experience processing payroll in multiple states including Colorado and California.
  • Experience with processing payroll taxes.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or other related field preferred.
  • FPC or CPP certification a plus.
