About the position

The Payroll Specialist at GeoStabilization International is a vital role responsible for the efficient maintenance and processing of the company's payroll reports, timesheets, spreadsheets, and funds distribution. This position ensures compliance with district and county policies, as well as state and federal regulations. The Payroll Specialist will respond to inquiries and requests for data and reports, providing timely and accurate payroll production. Additionally, the role involves generating certified payroll reports for all projects on a weekly basis. In this position, you will manage both union and nonunion employee timesheets, ensuring accurate filing and payment of payroll taxes. You will create, manage, and perform the weekly processing of payroll to guarantee that employees are compensated correctly, with appropriate wage rates and withholdings. The role also requires researching prevailing wage rates for various jobs based on funding sources, state, county, and locality. Collaboration with the Project Management team for certified payrolls nationwide is essential, as is the ability to manage job wage information and assist with employee retirement accounts, including 401K and Roth plans. Furthermore, you will be responsible for managing yearly reports, including W2s for each employee in every state they have worked.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist, Payroll Analyst, Payroll Coordinator, or similar role with 3+ years of construction union experience.
  • Deep knowledge of state and federal payroll and tax regulations across multiple states.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll software, preferably Viewpoint Vista.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and spreadsheets.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Viewpoint and Internet applications.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and type effectively in English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Other language proficiency is helpful.
  • Administrative experience preferred.
