About the position

PetPartners is seeking a Payroll Specialist responsible for managing day-to-day payroll operations, including tracking, balancing, auditing, and troubleshooting payroll-related entries. This full-time, temporary position is expected to last 6-12 months, with the potential for conversion to a permanent role. The role is remote, with some location restrictions.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate deductions, overtime, vacation, and workers compensation while ensuring compliance with contracts, laws, regulations, and company pay policies.
  • Maintain payroll records, file reports, process involuntary deductions, and prepare special reports for leadership.
  • Audit pay records and reconcile tax and unemployment liability accounts to the general ledger, investigating variances as needed.
  • Maintain payroll systems and assist with quarterly payroll tax reporting, resolving payroll/tax reporting issues.
  • Review employee wage and tax setup for accuracy in HRIS systems.
  • Verify compliance with federal and state payroll requirements.
  • Assist with audits of internal records, workers compensation, tax filing, and related documentation.
  • Audit, code, and process employee expense reimbursements.
  • Prepare supporting documentation and reports for internal and external requests related to payroll, payroll tax returns, benefits, and bonus plans.
  • Participate in company initiatives such as software implementations and process upgrades.
  • Complete special projects, ad hoc reporting, or other general duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3 years' relevant experience in payroll management.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Non-Exempt Labor, including managing payroll for non-exempt employees and compliance with labor laws.
  • Multi-Entity Company Experience, demonstrating ability to handle payroll operations for multi-entity organizations.
