About the position

The Payroll Specialist at Micro Center is responsible for managing payroll processing for over 3000 multi-state retail associates, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality. This role involves collaboration with various departments to deliver accurate and timely payroll, while also handling audits, compliance with tax laws, and addressing payroll-related inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Assist in processing payroll for 3000+ multi-state retail associates, including the commissioned sales force
• Import hours, commission, and bonus data into the UKG computerized payroll system for bi-weekly payroll processing
• Review and audit new hires, rehires, status changes, pay rate changes, and other transactions affecting net wages and deductions
• Audit and analyze employee information to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws across 18 states
• Assist with processing child support and garnishment paperwork and deductions
• Complete payroll employment verifications and required government reports
• Generate various reports, including detailed ad hoc reporting for business units
• Assist the Payroll Manager with quarter-end and year-end processing
• Respond to and resolve associate and manager payroll issues
• Perform general ledger processing, account reconciliations, and miscellaneous accounting duties
• Handle administrative duties associated with the position, such as filing and payroll documentation
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School diploma required
• At least 5+ years of payroll experience
• Experience with Ultimate Kronos Group (UKG) or another web-based payroll system
• Strong customer service skills
• Attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proficient in Excel
• Ability to work overtime as needed
• Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
