About the position

The Payroll Specialist at GMF Steel Group is responsible for processing and recording the company's payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations. This full-time role involves various tasks including payroll processing, data entry, and employee relations, contributing to the overall efficiency of the payroll department.

Responsibilities

• Collect, sort and verify field time and per diem rates with field supervisors
• Obtain supervisory approval of time discrepancies
• Maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating and entering data
• Process and close weekly periodic payroll
• Update payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage(s), savings deductions, and job titles
• Determine payroll liabilities by calculating employee federal and state income and social security taxes, as well as employer's social security, unemployment and workers compensation payments
• Process garnishment and child support requests/orders
• Provide excellent customer service to employees in the areas of compensation, taxes, benefits, clock in/clock out procedures, how to request time off and how to change benefits
• Assisting with scanning and filing, as needed
• Assisting with new employee onboarding, as needed

Requirements
