About the position

The Payroll Specialist will manage and operate the in-house payroll system for an industry-leading organization in Point Loma, California. This role emphasizes payroll tax processes and post-payroll activities, ensuring compliance with tax laws and accurate payroll processing.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute all aspects of the payroll process accurately and on schedule.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of payroll taxes, ensuring full compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws.
  • Conduct post payroll processing activities timely and correctly.
  • Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports.
  • Update payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, job titles, and department/division transfers.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in payroll, and answer employees' questions and concerns regarding payroll.
  • Collaborate with the HR team to ensure seamless processing and administration of payroll.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in in-house payroll processing.
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll tax laws and regulations.
  • Experience in post-payroll processing.
  • Proficiency in using payroll software and MS Office suite.
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
  • Excellent time management and interpersonal skills.
