About the position

Vaco is seeking a dedicated Payroll Processor to join our team in Los Angeles, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payroll for our employees while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws. You will provide exceptional support and service to our staff, making sure that all payroll processes run smoothly and efficiently. As a Payroll Processor, you will execute payroll cycles on a bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly basis, ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and on time. Your attention to detail will be crucial as you accurately enter and update employee information in the payroll system, including new hires, terminations, changes in compensation, and deductions. Compliance is a key aspect of this position, as you will need to ensure that payroll practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations. Staying updated on any legislative changes will be part of your responsibilities. You will also calculate and process all payroll deductions, including taxes, benefits, and garnishments, while maintaining detailed and accurate payroll records. Preparing and submitting necessary reports to management and regulatory bodies will be essential to your role. In addition to processing payroll, you will be the first point of contact for employee inquiries regarding payroll issues and discrepancies. Your strong communication skills will help you provide clear explanations and resolutions. You will assist in regular payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance, and work closely with HR and IT departments to ensure the payroll system is functioning properly and updated as necessary. Generating and distributing payroll reports and summaries as required by management will also be part of your duties.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in payroll processing.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Understanding of payroll practices, tax regulations, and wage and hour laws.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with employees and management.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve payroll issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a multi-state payroll environment.
  • Experience with advanced payroll functions and integration with HRIS systems.
