About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring accuracy in employee compensation, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll systems and accounting principles, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for all employees accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Maintain and update employee records in the HRIS system, including new hires, terminations, and changes in employment status.
  • Perform double entry bookkeeping to ensure accurate financial reporting and reconciliation of payroll accounts.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports related to payroll, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources department to address employee inquiries regarding payroll issues.
  • Utilize PeopleSoft or Ceridian software for payroll processing and reporting tasks.
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies as needed.
  • Support year-end processes including W-2 preparation and filing.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in PeopleSoft or Ceridian payroll systems is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of double entry bookkeeping principles and practices.
  • Experience with payroll processing and understanding of relevant labor laws.
  • Familiarity with accounts receivable functions is a plus.
  • Ability to navigate HRIS systems effectively for data management.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate record keeping.
  • Strong 10 key typing skills for efficient data entry tasks.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members across departments.
  • Previous experience in human resources or as a payroll clerk is beneficial.
