About the position

The Payroll Specialist at Atrium is a vital role within the Finance team, responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for both salaried and hourly employees. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who can manage payroll processes, maintain records, ensure compliance with regulations, and assist with payroll-related inquiries. The role also involves supporting audits and preparing payroll reports, making it essential for the smooth operation of the company's payroll functions.

Responsibilities

  • Process and manage bi-weekly or monthly payroll for employees, ensuring accurate deductions, overtime, benefits, and tax withholdings.
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and pay adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax filing requirements.
  • Collaborate with HR and other departments to resolve payroll-related issues and discrepancies.
  • Review timesheets and attendance records for accuracy and proper authorization.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports, including earnings statements and tax filings.
  • Assist with year-end payroll processing, including issuing W-2s and other tax documents.
  • Respond to payroll-related employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and benefits.
  • Support audits by providing necessary payroll data and documentation.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in payroll administration or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel (experience with Workday, Justworks, etc. is a plus).
  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations, including tax laws and compliance.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred.
