About the position

As a Payroll Specialist at Connection, you will play a crucial role in our finance team, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of payroll for assigned company entities. This position involves managing both weekly and biweekly pay groups, which requires a keen attention to detail and a strong understanding of payroll systems. You will be responsible for uploading incentive compensation data from various internal sources into the payroll system, producing reports to verify data accuracy, and ensuring compliance with SEC guidelines regarding RSU data. Your role will also include maintaining the integrity of employee hours worked and payroll data, entering RSU data into the payroll system, and posting general ledger entries as necessary. In addition to processing payroll, you will conduct audits to verify the accuracy of payroll before transmitting files. This includes completing internal payroll process control spreadsheets to balance all compensation processed for each pay period. You will ensure compliance and accuracy of time records and paid time off requests in the time management system, and you will run interfaces to upload hours into the UltiPro system. Resolving access issues for managers and employees in the time management system will also be part of your responsibilities. You will conduct weekly and biweekly audits, run scheduled and ad hoc reports, and reconcile various general ledger and HR/Benefit accounts. This position requires a working knowledge of automated payroll systems and reporting systems that integrate with payroll and timekeeping systems. You should have a solid understanding of payroll practices, including the calculation of compensation for various pay plans and statuses, as well as the ability to calculate overtime compensation for non-exempt employees. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be collaborating with all levels of the organization. A CPP or similar payroll certification is preferred, highlighting the importance of expertise in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of weekly and biweekly pay groups for assigned company entities.
  • Upload incentive compensation data from multiple internal sources to the payroll system.
  • Produce reporting through the payroll system to ensure data accuracy prior to uploading RSU SEC data per vesting schedule.
  • Process payroll with data from time management systems for assigned company entities.
  • Maintain changes to and ensure the accuracy and integrity of employee hours worked and payroll data on a timely basis.
  • Enter RSU data into the payroll system and post general ledger entries as needed.
  • Run audit reports to verify accuracy of payroll prior to transmitting files.
  • Complete internal payroll process control spreadsheets for balancing compensation processed for each pay period.
  • Ensure compliance and accuracy of time records and paid time off requests in the time management system prior to payroll processing.
  • Run interface in UTM to upload hours into UltiPro system.
  • Resolve access issues with managers and employees in UTM.
  • Conduct weekly and biweekly auditing; run scheduled and ad hoc reports as needed; reconcile various G/L and HR/Benefit accounts.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of automated payroll systems.
  • Working knowledge of various automated reporting systems that work with payroll and timekeeping systems.
  • Understanding of common payroll practices regarding the calculation of compensation by various pay plans and statuses.
  • Ability to understand and calculate overtime compensation for non-exempt salaried and hourly employees and the FLSA calculation methodology.
  • General knowledge of taxation with regards to answering tax withholding inquiries.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with all levels of the organization and within teams.
  • CPP or similar payroll certification preferred.
