About the position

The Payroll Specialist at PACS is a critical role that requires a highly motivated individual who can effectively partner across various departments to deliver exceptional customer service. This position involves the timely and accurate processing of payroll-related items, including the final pay for terminations. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, utilizing multiple systems to manage payroll tasks while adhering to strict daily processing deadlines. Critical thinking and the ability to think outside the box are essential for effective problem-solving in this role. In this position, the Payroll Specialist will manage workflow to ensure that all payroll transactions are processed accurately and on time. Responsibilities include preparing and processing termination checks in compliance with state guidelines, processing off-cycle checks for missed hours and additional pay, and reviewing and auditing payroll data prior to settlement. The specialist will also be responsible for researching and resolving payroll discrepancies, responding to payroll-related inquiries, and preparing reports that compile data on hours, earnings, taxes, and deductions. Additionally, the Payroll Specialist will update payroll records by reviewing and entering employee payment and tax elections, handle inquiries regarding paid time off, process and monitor garnishment orders, and maintain data privacy and employee confidentiality. Contributing to team success by achieving specified metrics and team goals is also a key aspect of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
  • Prepare and process termination checks using appropriate state compliance guidelines.
  • Process off cycle checks for missed hours and additional pay, as needed.
  • Review and audit payroll data prior to payroll settlement.
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Respond to payroll questions and requests for information.
  • Prepare reports by compiling data of hours, earnings, taxes, and deductions.
  • Update payroll records by reviewing and entering employee payment and tax elections.
  • Review and research questions regarding paid time off (sick and vacation).
  • Process and monitor garnishment orders and other issues that impact payroll.
  • Process and complete verifications of employment.
  • Maintain data privacy and employee confidentiality.
  • Contribute to team success by achieving specified metrics and team goals.

Requirements

  • 2 plus years of Payroll experience, preferably multi-state
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Strong Written and Verbal Communication skills
  • Ability to Multi-Task, Organize and Prioritize Responsibilities
  • Strong Analytical Skills to Investigate and Resolve Issues
  • Workday Experience a plus
  • Ability to Work in a Team Environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft - Outlook, Excel and Word

Nice-to-haves

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business-related field preferred
