About the position

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for overseeing and participating in the timely and accurate recording and processing of all payroll information. This role ensures compliance and accuracy in payroll processing while providing excellent customer service to employees regarding payroll-related issues.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the processing of all bi-weekly payrolls to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Train employees on the web-based time and attendance system.
  • Review timesheets for accuracy and manager approval, following up on discrepancies.
  • Prepare and export timesheet data into the payroll system and reconcile all hours for accuracy.
  • Prepare and verify payroll checks for proper distribution.
  • Provide excellent customer service regarding payroll-related issues.
  • Verify and process employee change information received from Human Resources.
  • Prepare verification of employment wages and worker's compensation wages as requested.
  • Update and verify all accruals on an annual basis.
  • Participate in the monthly orientation of new employees and instruct them on payroll processes.
  • Support and participate in all internal and external audits pertaining to payroll.
  • Update employee elected benefit deductions for monthly insurance invoices.
  • Provide back-up coverage for the Payroll Specialist Coordinator as requested.
  • Uphold compliance objectives and policies of the Foundation and Subsidiaries.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with post-graduate courses in Business or Accounting.
  • Minimum 2 years of computerized payroll experience in a high volume payroll environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
