About the position

The Payroll Specialist is a critical role within the payroll team, responsible for managing payroll processes to ensure accurate and timely compensation for employees. This position requires a strong understanding of payroll systems, accounting principles, and excellent organizational skills, as well as compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll for all employees accurately and on time using HRIS systems such as Paylocity.
• Maintain employee records related to payroll, benefits administration, and tax information.
• Perform account reconciliation and ensure the accuracy of payroll entries in the general ledger accounting system.
• Collaborate with HR to manage employee benefits and deductions effectively.
• Prepare and distribute payroll reports for management review.
• Address employee inquiries regarding payroll discrepancies or issues in a timely manner.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
• Assist in the implementation of financial software upgrades or changes as needed.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role within corporate accounting.
• Proficiency in systems (Paylocity/Paycore) and financial software.
• Strong understanding of double entry bookkeeping principles and account reconciliation processes.
• Familiarity with benefits administration is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially and professionally.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels.
