About the position

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate processing and recording of the company's payroll, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and providing timely financial information. This role also involves general office management tasks, including filing, project management, and communication, while promoting the company's core values of honesty, safety, quality, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Administer all aspects of payroll processing, payroll tax payment, and reporting.
• Resolve issues with federal and state government agencies.
• Develop and administer human resources and payroll plans, policies, and procedures for company personnel.
• Maintain and update personnel policies and procedures and compensation structure.
• Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable federal and state employment laws and regulations.
• Familiarize and keep current with the taxation of salaries, benefits, and other factors.
• Process and monitor garnishment orders and other payroll-related issues.
• Reconcile general ledger with regard to payroll transactions.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns.
• Maintain electronic time-keeping system and process records daily.
• Train new employees on the time-keeping system as needed.

Requirements

• 1-5 years' experience in a Payroll position.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong organizational and data entry skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate interpersonally, verbally, and in writing.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
• Detail-oriented and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong time management skills.
• Fast keying speed required.
• Must be available to be on call when needed, including weekends and/or holidays.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in the Roofing/Construction Industry.
• Experience with Acumatica, Sage 300/Timberline, Kronos/UKG, AboutTime/WorkMax.
• Bilingual in Spanish or Vietnamese.
