About the position

Tiegerman is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team in Glen Cove, NY. This full-time position is responsible for processing payroll for two companies, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant regulations. The Payroll Specialist will work from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and is eligible for overtime. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll management processes and will be proficient in debits and credits principles. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex data accurately. In this position, the Payroll Specialist will be tasked with processing bi-weekly payroll accurately and timely, reconciling payroll prior to transmission, and validating confirmed reports. The role also involves reviewing and modifying time and attendance records, entering new employees into the payroll system, and terminating departing employees from the payroll system. Additionally, the Payroll Specialist will process payroll vouchers for all employee changes regarding salary, title, transfer, or employment status, and make necessary changes to deductions from payroll, including health benefits, pension, and garnishments. The Payroll Specialist will also be responsible for processing additional pay slips, making changes to employee direct deposits, tax withholdings, and other deductions. Assisting with human resource functions, reviewing pension reports, and distributing pension notices to staff are also part of the job responsibilities. Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for two companies accurately and timely
  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports
  • Review and modify time and attendance records
  • Enter new employees into the Payroll system
  • Terminate departing employees from the Payroll system
  • Process Payroll vouchers for all employee changes regarding any change of salary, title, transfer or employment status
  • Make all changes to deductions from payroll including health benefits, pension, garnishments, pension loans
  • Process all additional pay slips (ie. overtime forms)
  • Make changes to employee direct deposit, tax withholdings, and/or any deductions
  • Assist with Human Resource Functions
  • Review all Pension Reports
  • Distribute all pension notices to all staff
  • Perform all duties assigned by department Supervisor
  • Perform data entry tasks efficiently

Requirements

  • Proficiency in debits and credits principles
  • Experience in general ledger reconciliation
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data
  • Knowledge of payroll management processes
  • Familiarity with accounts receivable procedures
  • Ability to use ADP or similar timekeeping systems
  • Understanding of tax regulations related to payroll
  • Accurate and efficient in data entry tasks
