About the position

Hemisphere Companies is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our accounting team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely payments, and maintaining compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience with payroll management and corporate accounting software, as well as a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. In this role, you will prepare and process payroll, ensuring accurate and timely payments to employees. You will manage and maintain payroll records, including employee information, pay rates, and tax deductions. Ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations, including federal and state taxes, will be a critical part of your responsibilities. You will also coordinate and maintain relationships with outside vendors and service providers, utilizing accounting software, including Paylocity and Sage, to manage payroll and corporate accounting tasks. Conducting thorough reviews of payroll documents to ensure accuracy and completeness is essential. You will maintain a thorough understanding of accounting principles and practices while providing exceptional customer service to employees and management. Additionally, maintaining a professional and organized work environment is expected.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Experience with payroll management and corporate accounting.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Experience with tax preparation and compliance.
  • 10 key typing skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in accounting or related field preferred.
  • Experience working in an accounting or payroll environment as a clerk or accountant.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
