About the position

Payroll Specialist Location - Cincinnati Ohio - Onsite (not remote) Job Summary: We are on the lookout for a dedicated and experienced Payroll Specialist to join the GAI team. You'll be responsible for delivering biweekly payroll, filing quarterly payments, A/P & A/R support, administrative tasks and reporting around sales/use tax returns. This role is the perfect blend of accounting, finance and payroll. Seeking a multifaceted employee willing to wear a few hats in this small company and jump in where needed in accounting/finance. Ongoing Operational Tasks: Biweekly payroll for organization under 150 employees in multiple states Clerical support/reporting for Tax Prep & Review - quarterly Sales Tax, Payroll Taxes, Registration for Worker's Comp and tax use on the state and local level Process Documentation and Improvement Conduct sales/use tax research online when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, process, and maintain paperwork related to payroll, sales/use tax, quarterly state income tax payments.
  • Confirm/audit the accuracy of records and documents related to sales & use tax reporting and preparation (does not have to be a tax expert).
  • Ensure compliance of third party payroll/tax in filing in a timely manner.
  • Maintain written and oral communications between the company and all relevant vendors and state & local agencies.
  • Support A/P and/or A/R on projects and accounts including audits, closings, year-end.
  • Provide excellent communication and interpersonal skills - able to partner and cooperate well with other departments.
  • Enter and process payroll for multiple pay schedules in a timely manner.
  • Apply knowledge of applicable laws to process court-ordered child support and medical support orders, garnishments and federal tax levies.
  • Enter changes that affect payroll in conjunction with Human Resources.
  • Organize and track payroll changes as well as document changes to keep on file.
  • Enter commissions on multiple commission schedules into payroll (does not calculate commissions).
  • Reporting including but not limited to forecasting, labor, headcount, taxes, and payroll.
  • Use considerable tact, discretion, confidentiality regarding payroll, financials, policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years experience with payroll and/or A/R or A/P.
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Proven track record as a payroll specialist.
  • Experience in managing extensive volumes of accounting paperwork for a corporation.
  • Strong Excel skills.
