About the position

The Payroll Specialist at Sonida Senior Living plays a crucial role in managing the payroll processes for the company, ensuring that all employees receive accurate and timely payments. This position is integral to the overall HR services provided to employees and leaders, as payroll is a key deliverable that impacts employee satisfaction and financial reporting. The Payroll Specialist will report directly to the Payroll/Human Resources department, working closely with both HR and accounting teams to maintain financial controls and ensure excellence in payroll accounting. In this hybrid-based role, the Payroll Specialist will administer payroll processing for all Sonida communities, which includes managing new hires, terminations, and employee changes within the Human Resource Information System (HRIS). The specialist will also provide Tier II support to management and employees, ensuring that all payroll records are accurate and up-to-date. This position requires a strong understanding of payroll processes and the ability to align these processes with financial controls, ensuring timely reporting and accurate accounting entries that reflect payroll expenses in the company's financial reports. Collaboration is key in this role, as the Payroll Specialist will partner with HR leadership and the Reporting/Accounting teams to refine payroll processes, enhance quality, and create seamless integration with other employee processes. The goal is to deliver a comprehensive payroll experience that meets the needs of all employees while maintaining compliance with financial regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Administers processing payroll for all Sonida communities.
  • Works with the payroll team to ensure that all new hires, terminations, and employee changes are reflected in the HRIS.
  • Provides Tier II support to management and employees to ensure that all employee/payroll records are correct.
  • Ensures that payroll processes are aligned with financial controls and that timely reporting and accounting entries are available for accurate payroll expense reflection.
  • Partners with HR leadership and Reporting/Accounting leadership to refine payroll processes and ensure excellence in payroll processing.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two years experience in Payroll function.
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of payroll processing experience.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Experience in multi-site payroll processing is highly desired.
  • Experience with electronic payroll processing systems, UKG Pro experience highly desired.

  • Ability to supervise multiple subordinates to ensure systematic, consistent, and accurate payroll processing.
  • Great communication and collaboration skills.
