About the position

The Payroll Specialist will support the HR department by ensuring the efficient processing of employee paychecks and maintaining payroll systems. This role requires a strong background in payroll processing, particularly with the ADP system, and excellent communication skills to address employee inquiries and resolve payroll-related issues.

Responsibilities

• Calculating paychecks based on hours worked, overtime, holidays, and other factors.
• Distributing funds to employee accounts via direct deposit or check.
• Maintaining payroll records and ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Preparing payroll reports and tax documents.
• Addressing employee questions and payroll-related issues.
• Keeping current on payroll laws and regulations.
• Collaborating with HR and finance to ensure accurate payroll data.
• Conducting semi-annual audits of payroll records.
• Reconciling the general ledger for payroll transactions.
• Verifying all entries for all agencies are corrected and entered.
• Entering all changes for all active employees in the ADP profile.
• Hiring all new hires and terminating employees who are no longer employed.
• Running daily and weekly reports and submitting to all departments and agencies for corrections.
• Assisting the HR department in audits for requests of any timesheets or records needed.

Requirements

• Degree in Payroll, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an HR Generalist role.
• Strong knowledge of HR principles, practices, and employment laws.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in HRIS and MS Office applications.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
