About the position

The Payroll Specialist at On The Border Mexican Grill and Cantina is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for a multi-state brand. This role involves managing payroll-related tasks, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and providing excellent service to employees. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills to handle various payroll functions efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Enter, maintain, and process information in the payroll system including hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses, and deductions.
• Ensure proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, and other contributions.
• Reconcile payroll to the general ledger.
• Issue or reissue checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
• Record and process federal and state payroll tax deposits.
• Continuously evaluate and improve payroll processes and procedures.
• Research and resolve payroll-related questions from managers and employees.
• Support new HCM system implementation including technical setup and user training.
• Manage and process wage garnishments ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
• Administer and process bonus payments ensuring accuracy and timely disbursement.

Requirements

• Experience handling multi-state payroll and ensuring compliance with various state regulations.
• Two years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping with at least six months of experience in payroll preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Proficient in using payroll software systems; experience with Paycor is highly desirable.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
