About the position

The Payroll Specialist at Black & McDonald will play a crucial role in supporting the US Operations in Kansas City, MO. This position involves managing day-to-day payroll activities, ensuring accurate payroll processing, and providing administrative support to the Payroll Manager and Controller. Responsibilities

  • Accurately enter and post weekly payrolls
  • Prepare and issue paychecks
  • Calculate and prepare payroll tax remittances (Local, State, Federal)
  • Manage benefits administration including enrollment, termination, and reconciling invoices and G/L accounts
  • Handle union dues remittance
  • Administer payroll processes, including tax updates and other payroll data table administration
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of company payroll burdens
  • Manage document control administration
  • Support the Controller, Payroll Manager, and Financial Officer in other administrative functions as necessary

Requirements

  • University degree in Accounting or equivalent field
  • 1-3 years of payroll experience, preferably in the construction industry
  • Previous experience with payroll processes
  • Competency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office products including Excel
  • Knowledge of JD Edwards (JDE) would be an asset but not a requirement
