About the position

Extension is seeking a Payroll Specialist for a direct hire opportunity with one of our clients located in Waukesha, WI. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely payment to employees, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll systems and accounting principles, as well as excellent organizational skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll for all employees accurately and on time using financial software
• Maintain employee records related to payroll, benefits administration, and deductions
• Perform double entry bookkeeping to ensure accuracy in financial reporting
• Conduct general ledger reconciliation to verify payroll entries against company records
• Prepare recurring union reports, including requesting and sending payments
• Process creditor garnishments and child support orders
• Assist with HR functions including job postings and onboarding
• Collaborate with HR to manage employee benefits and resolve any discrepancies related to payroll or benefits administration
• Prepare and submit necessary tax documents and reports in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns in a timely manner

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role
• Proficient in using payroll and timekeeping software
• Knowledge of union payroll and union reporting
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
• High attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with employees at all levels
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive employee information

Nice-to-haves

• 2 years of payroll experience (Preferred)
