About the position

E2 Consulting Engineers, Inc. (E2) is a professional services firm established in 1988, specializing in a full spectrum of engineering services including project engineering and design, federal base operations and infrastructure support services, gas pipeline construction and inspection services, environmental consulting and remediation, and information technology services. The Payroll Specialist will support a growing multi-state organization with over 700 employees by assisting with payroll processing, serving as the point of contact for employee-related payroll questions, and providing accounting support as needed. This position will support the Finance Department and act as the backup to our Payroll Manager. We are looking for an individual with three to five years of experience in processing bi-weekly payrolls, who possesses great organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, strong payroll ethics, and the ability to manage confidential information. A solid operational and technical accounting background, along with the ability to work proactively to drive results, would be a great plus. This position will be full-time in the Denver office for the training period and will transition to 90% remote work after the training period.

Responsibilities

  • Bi-Weekly Union Payroll Processing
  • Bi-Weekly Puerto Rico Payroll Processing
  • Interprets company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures
  • Contact various department supervisors for any missed or incorrect time submitted for payroll
  • Build and run payroll reports as needed
  • Other administrative and accounting duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of payroll experience
  • Multi-state payroll experience a plus
  • Prior experience with payroll systems, with ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of federal and state tax regulations, FLSA and other federal and state regulations governing payroll procedures
  • Specific California knowledge preferred but not required
  • Experience with Deltek accounting software is a plus
  • Proficiency and aptitude for applicable software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to work in a multi-faceted environment requiring a high level of attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of accounting software packages
  • Self-starter, flexible, have a high level of integrity
  • Ability to change priorities quickly and be action and goal-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment
