About the position

The Payroll Specialist at Staffmark will be responsible for accurately processing payroll using ADP systems, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This role involves managing payroll data, addressing discrepancies, and collaborating with HR and accounting teams to maintain smooth operations. The position requires attention to detail and strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately process bi-weekly or monthly payroll using ADP systems.
  • Verify and input all payroll-related data, including time, attendance, deductions, bonuses, and benefits.
  • Maintain comprehensive payroll records and update employee data and tax forms as necessary.
  • Address payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries promptly.
  • Assist with payroll adjustments for new hires, terminations, wage changes, and leave balances.
  • Calculate and report employee tax withholdings, garnishments, and deductions.
  • Collaborate with HR and accounting teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Generate and distribute payroll reports.
  • Stay informed about payroll policies, procedures, and tax laws.
  • Assist in auditing and reconciling payroll accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role.
  • Proficiency with ADP payroll systems; familiarity with other HRIS software is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of payroll practices, wage and hour laws, and tax regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with payroll accounting and journal entries.
  • Knowledge of multi-state payroll processing and benefits administration.
