About the position

The Payroll Support Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to payroll, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and timely resolution of issues. This role involves troubleshooting payroll problems, providing accurate information about compensation and benefits, and maintaining professionalism while assisting employees with payroll processes. The specialist will utilize a case management system to document interactions and escalate complex issues as necessary, while also participating in ongoing training and contributing to process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the point of contact for employee payroll inquiries, ensuring satisfaction.
  • Troubleshoot payroll issues and assist employees with payroll forms and requirements.
  • Provide timely and accurate information regarding pay and deduction codes.
  • Maintain professionalism and establish rapport with employees.
  • Utilize case management system to document and resolve inquiries.
  • Assist employees in navigating payroll sites and internal resources.
  • Run and distribute payroll-related reports as needed.
  • Compile information for authorized persons or agencies as required.
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on processes and tools.
  • Strive to meet individual and team service metrics and goals.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
  • Engage in various projects as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

  • High School diploma with a minimum of 8 years related experience or Associates with a minimum of 4 years related experience; Bachelor's with a minimum of 2 years related experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of Payroll Administration experience and/or training.
  • Strong understanding of payroll practices, especially in a large, multi-state healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of payroll regulatory requirements at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer-focused communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in daily work.
  • Detail-oriented with problem-solving skills to achieve first call resolution.
  • Experience with Payroll ERP and timekeeping systems, with knowledge of Infor, Kronos, and API systems being a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and desktop/laptop operating systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience providing remote assistance over the phone or via email.
  • Familiarity with phone systems and etiquette.
