About the position

Atlas Technical Consultants is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our San Diego, CA team. As a nationwide leader in civil engineering, materials testing, and geotechnical consulting services, we pride ourselves on our commitment to quality and safety in every project we undertake. The Payroll Specialist will play a crucial role in managing and processing in-house prevailing wage payrolls accurately and on time. This position requires a thorough understanding of prevailing wage rates, including applicable fringe benefits, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and submitting required reports and documentation related to prevailing wage compliance and certified payroll. You will review and interpret labor agreements, wage determinations, and project-specific requirements, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of prevailing wage laws and regulations to ensure compliance. Additionally, you will maintain accurate and detailed payroll records, including timekeeping, wage rates, and fringe benefits, while reconciling payroll discrepancies and resolving issues promptly. As a point of contact for employees and managers regarding payroll-related questions and issues, you will provide support and guidance on prevailing wage matters. You will also identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend solutions to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy. Collaboration with HR and finance teams will be essential to streamline payroll processes and integrate new systems or tools as needed. This hybrid position is located in our San Diego office, and we are looking for someone who is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life through their work.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and process in-house prevailing wage payrolls accurately and on time.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience with Prevailing Wage and Certified Payroll.
  • Accounting background desired.
  • Technical Requirements: CPP or Accounting degree desired.
