About the position

The Payroll Specialist at MGA Homecare is responsible for performing payroll accounting and administrative duties to support the payroll department. This role requires a general knowledge of payroll and accounting practices to manage payroll for approximately 1,500 employees, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. The position involves processing payroll, handling garnishments, adjustments, and reimbursements, and serving as a liaison to resolve payroll-related inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Processing daily, weekly, and biweekly payroll for approximately 1,500 exempt and non-exempt employees.
  • Managing garnishments, payroll adjustments, reimbursements, per diems, and taxes for all employees.
  • Ensuring compliance with federal and state wage and hour laws regarding computing, withholding, or deductions.
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and checking payroll forms and reports for accuracy, making necessary adjustments or corrections.
  • Researching, analyzing, and resolving payroll-related problems or questions.
  • Issuing W-2 Wage and Tax Statement reprints as needed.
  • Creating payroll data reports for management as required.
  • Performing all other duties assigned by the Payroll Manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with payroll/accounting functions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal payroll tax requirements and regulations governing taxable income and wage reporting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional languages preferred.
  • Vocational/technical training in accounting or payroll.
