About the position

Clorox is seeking a Payroll Specialist who will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely payment of approximately 8,500 employees. This position involves performing a variety of payroll functions using Workday, UKG Pro, and a timekeeping system. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the preparation, analysis, reconciliation, and review of payroll reports to resolve issues, as well as producing calculations and processing pay data items such as bonuses, commissions, garnishments, terminations, and time and labor issues. The successful candidate will serve as the main point of contact for 5-10 Clorox plant locations, utilizing their expertise to resolve a wide range of payroll-related issues innovatively and practically. In this role, the Payroll Specialist will work with approximately 20 FEINS and 40 states, managing payroll for 2,500 non-production and 4,000 production employees on a biweekly payroll cycle. Key responsibilities include auditing and reconciling new hire information interfaced from Workday into UKG Pro and Time & Attendance, assisting managers and plant payroll processors with timekeeping adjustments, processing off-cycle payroll transactions, completing wage adjustments, and ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley controls and federal/state regulations. The role also involves identifying opportunities for process improvements or automation and supporting the unemployment process, among other duties. Responsibilities

  • Audit, research, analyze and reconcile new hire information that has interfaced from Workday into UKG Pro and Time & Attendance.
  • Assist managers and plant payroll processors with timekeeping and adjustments.
  • Process off cycle payroll related transactions, including missed payments, terminations and leave of absence.
  • Complete wage adjustments, including W2c's and repayments, with accuracy and within requested timeline.
  • Audit and review payroll reports, pre and post close for accuracy and verifying all adjustments.
  • Develop, maintain and update standard operation procedures and job aids.
  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate approvals and processes are in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley controls.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, federal and state regulations, and employment laws.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements or automation and drive the implementation of solutions.
  • Assist in responding to Verification of Employment information.
  • Support the Unemployment Process.
  • Handle general inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and time and attendance.
  • Respond to payroll related issues and inquiries.
  • Special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • 4+ years working as a specialist in the payroll area.
  • Advanced experience in MS Excel (vlookups, if-statements, pivot tables).
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task to meet challenges and deadlines effectively when handling competing demands.
  • Strong customer focus, driving a positive end user experience for Clorox employees.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong research and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with internal/external stakeholders and all staff levels.
  • Strong ability to work with confidential employee information.
  • Efficient in handling confidential business matters and information with discretion.
  • Understanding of relevant multi-state Payroll Laws (i.e. FLSA), Payroll Tax regulations.
