About the position

The Payroll Specialist at McKesson is responsible for managing payroll-related tasks with a focus on accuracy and compliance. This role involves processing earnings, deductions, and taxation for regular and On Demand payments, as well as handling complex payroll discrepancies and inquiries. The specialist will work independently or with minimal supervision, ensuring timely completion of payroll tasks while adhering to established procedures and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll validation including earnings, deductions, and taxation on regular and On Demand payments.
• Handle garnishment processing, union pay, and benefits deductions.
• Provide resolution for complex payroll discrepancies and inquiries based on Service Level Agreements.
• Create and validate On Demand checks and manage pay and T4 reconciliation.
• Update and create Desk Top Procedures/Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for assigned tasks.
• Process Records of Employment (ROEs) according to company and Service Canada guidelines.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; advanced education preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years payroll processing experience in a multi-state environment.
• Preferred certifications include Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC).
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and taxes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, and ServiceNow.

• Experience with garnishments, banking, and Record of Employment processing.
• Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
