About the position

A growing nonprofit in the Anne Arundel County area of Maryland is seeking an ambitious Payroll Specialist to join their team. The Payroll Specialist will play a crucial role in managing the payroll process, ensuring that all employees are compensated accurately and on time. This position involves collecting timesheet data and payroll information, which is essential for maintaining the integrity of the payroll system. The successful candidate will be responsible for entering this data into payroll and administrative databases and software programs, ensuring that all information is accurate and up-to-date. In addition to data entry, the Payroll Specialist will calculate wages, benefits, tax deductions, commissions, and other payroll-related figures. This requires a strong understanding of payroll practices and the ability to work with various accounting and payroll software. The role also includes preparing and processing paychecks and cash deposits, which are critical tasks that require attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Maintaining accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions is another key responsibility of the Payroll Specialist. This includes preparing and distributing income statements and responding to payroll-related inquiries from employees. The specialist will also be tasked with resolving any concerns that may arise regarding payroll issues. Furthermore, the Payroll Specialist will perform account balance and payroll reconciliations, ensuring that all payroll accounts are accurate and balanced. Preparing financial reports for accounting and auditing purposes is also part of the job, as well as preparing periodic payroll reports for review by management. This position is vital to the financial health of the organization and requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills.
