About the position

High Country Search Group is collaborating with one of the largest construction companies in the Denver area to find a Payroll Specialist. This full-time position is crucial for managing payroll across various regional entities. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and maintaining accurate payroll records. This role requires a deep understanding of payroll systems and tax processes, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including employees, third-party payroll providers, external auditors, and government agencies. The Payroll Specialist will handle a variety of tasks, including answering employee inquiries related to payroll topics such as commissions, bonuses, and changes in personal information. They will collect and summarize timekeeping information using Paycom, process and close periodic payrolls, print and issue checks, and manage overtime approvals. Additionally, the specialist will process garnishment requests, employee advances, and paybacks, calculate and deposit payroll taxes, and issue annual W-2 forms. The role demands a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as the ability to generate reports related to compensation, taxes paid, garnishments, and deductions. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in processing full-cycle payroll and a comprehensive understanding of U.S. payroll and tax processes. A Certified Payroll Professional designation is preferred but not mandatory. This position offers a competitive salary range of $60,000 to $70,000 annually, along with a flexible working environment and a comprehensive benefits package.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in processing full-cycle payroll.
  • In-depth understanding of U.S. payroll and tax processes required.
  • Capable of processing full-cycle in-house payroll.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Certified Payroll Professional preferred.
