About the position

The Payroll Specialist position is a critical role within a growing, fast-paced, employee-owned engineering and construction company located in Englewood, CO. The successful candidate will join a dedicated payroll department consisting of two other team members and will report directly to the Payroll Manager. This role is essential for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for approximately 375 employees across multiple entities, including both union and non-union payrolls. The Payroll Specialist will utilize PayCom and Deltek Vantagepoint systems to manage payroll operations effectively. In this position, the Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing bi-monthly payroll, responding to employee inquiries, and managing employee change requests. Additionally, the role involves assisting the accounting department with month-end close activities related to payroll, filing workers' compensation reports, and preparing tax reports. The Payroll Specialist will also complete year-end processing for payroll reporting and 401K contributions, along with other payroll-related duties as needed. This position requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of experience in multi-state payroll processing, with a preference for those holding a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification. Familiarity with PayCom software is a plus, as are intermediate Excel skills, including proficiency in Vlookups and pivot tables. Responsibilities

  • Process bi-monthly payroll for 375 employees using PayCom and Deltek Vantagepoint.
  • Manage union and non-union payroll for multiple entities.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and handle employee change requests.
  • Assist the accounting department with month-end close activities related to payroll.
  • File workers' compensation reports and tax reports.
  • Complete year-end processing for payroll reporting and 401K contributions.
  • Perform other payroll duties as needed.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of multi-state payroll processing experience.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus.
  • Experience with PayCom is a plus.
  • Intermediate Excel skills, including Vlookups and pivot tables.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
