About the position

The Payroll Specialist at Golden Touch Home Care is a vital role within our growing healthcare company, responsible for overseeing the payroll functions for over 100 employees. This position requires a dedicated individual who can ensure that payroll is processed accurately and on time, in compliance with all relevant government regulations and multiple pay periods. The Payroll Manager will play a key role in planning, directing, and supervising payroll operations, ensuring that all processes run smoothly and efficiently. In this role, the Payroll Specialist will intake all new employees to ensure that their payroll and HR files are complete. They will also be responsible for verifying that all timesheets are complete and signed, overseeing the daily workflow of the payroll department. The Payroll Specialist will provide constructive and timely performance evaluations, as well as recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff within the department. Training and developing team members effectively is also a crucial aspect of this position. The Payroll Specialist will implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions using ADP Workforce Now. This includes managing salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions. The role also involves preparing and maintaining accurate records and reports of payroll transactions, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws, and facilitating audits by providing necessary documentation to auditors. Additionally, the Payroll Specialist will identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software and procedures, prepare and file quarterly and annual tax returns, and document payroll procedures and policies as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Intake all new employees to ensure payroll/HR file is complete.
  • Ensure all timesheets are complete and signed.
  • Oversee the daily workflow of the payroll department.
  • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff in the department.
  • Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems using ADP Workforce Now.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
  • Prepare and file quarterly and annual tax returns.
  • Document payroll procedures and policies, and update when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
  • Five years of related payroll experience with ADP required.
  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal controls, reporting, and payroll taxes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player attitude.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence.
  • Excel proficiency.
  • Experience with startups is a plus.
  • Experience building systems and processes from scratch is a must.
